At Waverley Academy, the intent of the Design and Technology curriculum, is that it will be taught in all year groups through at least one topic per term, which includes one topic relating to food. Where possible, DT projects are made cross curricular – linking to other subjects taught and deeper learning taking place. Our DT curriculum encourages children to become independent, creative, problem solvers, team players and confident. As teachers we aim to provide meaningful and memorable experiences which develop learning and result in the acquisition of knowledge and skills. This way the children will engage more, learn more and understand more. Through the study of DT, the children can identify needs and opportunities and respond to them by developing a range of ideas, products and systems. The children are also given opportunities to reflect on and evaluate past and present technology. At Waverley Academy, we believe in preparing our children to live confidently in our rapidly changing world.
