Pupil Premium
What is the Pupil Premium Grant?
The Pupil Premium is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities and to close the gaps between them and their peers. Each year, this funding is deployed by school in a range of ways to support disadvantaged pupils and this is reviewed each September to identify the impact it has had.
School Strategy
At Waverley Primary Academy, we aim to use the Pupil Premium funding to help break down barriers to learning for children who are disadvantaged. We aim to ensure that all children, regardless of their background, have access to high-quality opportunities so as to ensure that every child has full opportunity to reach their potential. Our strategy is to be inclusive to all children and maintain strong progress for every child in school.
Statement on Intent.
At Waverley Academy,
Planned intervention times are a rolling program so it’s not all same subjects missed
Pupils in receipt of the Pupil Premium (disadvantaged pupils) are able to access a full broad and balanced curriculum through quality first teaching and planned targeted intervention.
They will access first hand experiences and stimulating hooks, that will broader horizons and lead to a love a learning, and increased attendance.
Outcomes for disadvantage learners will be improved and the gap between disadvantage learners and their peers will begin to diminish.
Pupil Premium curriculum mapping of all subjects will ensure inclusive practice for all leaners.
To improve the quality of teaching, there will be a monitoring and coaching ethos, to ensure all learners are catered for. Learning walks, drop in sessions, ‘finding out days’ and book looks will focus on disadvantage learners.
Pupils will be ask about their experience of the curriculum, to ensure inclusive practice.
At this school and across schools nationally, the period from mid-March 2020 until the end of the academic year has been dominated by the outbreak of COVID-19. The much reduced opening of mainstream schools in March, followed by the wider opening of schools from 1st June 2020, has had a significant impact on the ability to implement many of the actions and strategies outlined in the Pupil Premium Strategy covering the period 2019-20. You can see more information on how we have reviewed last year’s Pupil Premium Strategy by clicking on our Pupil Premium Statement for 2020 and Reviewed Pupil Premium Strategy below.
